Moanalua/Salt Lake
Moanalua is an established
residential community neighboring
Tripler Hospital and Red Hill. Salt Lake
is a densely populated area with several
high rise condominiums with some single
family homes. This location is an ideal
residential community for the
surrounding areas of Pearl Harbor Naval
Station, Hickam Air Force Base, Ft.
Shafter Army Base and the Airport area.
The location is centralized on the
island and provide easy access to H-1
and H-3 which leads to the North side of
the island and Kaneohe Air Force Base.
Downtown/Nuuanu District
Downtown is Oahu’s main
business district with densely populated
business and residential high rise
buildings near the Aloha Tower,
Chinatown and Oahu’s main Shipping
Docks. The Nuuanu area is one the more
historical areas in the district with
several estates including the Queen’s
Summer Palace. Hawaiian Royalty spent
much time in this area and several homes
from that era remain to accentuate the
area/’s prestigious past.
Ala
Moana/Kakaako
Ala Moana is at the entrance
of Waikiki and houses one the largest
outdoor malls in the world- Ala Moana
Shopping Center as well as one of Oahu
newest shopping areas – Victoria Ward.
Kakaako is Oahu’s newest luxury high
rise neighborhood with several of the
newest condominiums including Nauru
Tower which features unobstructed views
of the ocean over Ala Moana Park,
Ko’olani, Hawaiki Tower, Hokua, and The
Moana Pacific. Residents in this
neighborhood have the ability to be
centrally located with several ammenties
within walking distance including Ala
Moana Shopping Center, Ala Moana Beach
and Beach Park, The Marina, Theatres,
shopping, restaurants and the Neil
Blaisdell Center.
Makiki/Manoa
Makiki is the neighborhood
north of Kakaako which is an ideal
community for those who would like to
live near town or the University of
Hawaii. This community offers a good
blend of low-rise, high-rise and single
family homes. It is mainly a residential
community and is at the base of Tantalus
which is a renowned community with
several well known estates. The road up
Tantalus is very curvy and the area is
densely wooded offering privacy for its
residences as well as views overlooking
downtown and Diamond Head crater. Manoa
is a lush valley community which is
mainly single family homes with a few
townhouse complexes. The University of
Hawaii is located in Manoa Valley and
the valley is well known for its
frequent rain showers and lush
vegetation.
Waikiki
Waikiki is the most famous of
areas on Oahu and houses a majority of
the hotels on the island. It is Oahu’s
central tourist location with a robust
nightlife and home to world famous
Waikiki Beach. On the edge of Waikiki
near the slopes of Diamond Head is the
Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park which
has been a public park with a full size
outdoor concert hall – The Waikiki
Shell. Waikiki is densely populated with
hotels and residential buildings, as
well as several areas for shopping,
eating and taking surfing lessons. |
